It reminds us that while nonprofits are typically exempt from sales and use tax, they are not exempt from the obligation to collect and remit sales tax on the sale of taxable goods. States continue to aggressively pursue online retailers for sales tax. It is also important to clarify that these sales tax rules apply to all sales of taxable goods and services, not only online sales.
