Baltimore, Md. – Ellin & Tucker, the public accounting and business consulting firm, announced today that Ed Brake, CEO and managing director of the firm, was selected to speak at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s education and training event hosted by the Maryland Chapter. Brake, along with Mac Tisdale, chair of the foundation and president of First National Bank, discussed the importance of philanthropy in Baltimore during the event’s Corporate Engagement Workshop. The event was held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Hyatt Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Md. for the Foundation’s staff members across the country.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s mission is to cure cystic fibrosis and to provide all people with the disease the opportunity to lead full, productive lives by funding research and drug development, promoting individualized treatment and ensuring access to high-quality, specialized care.
Ellin & Tucker has supported the Foundation for many years by participating in its annual gala and fundraising events. But Brake also has a personal reason to support the work of this organization.
“A good friend of mine and fellow community leader has a brother with cystic fibrosis, so I have seen firsthand how it affects not only the person but their families and friends,” said Brake. “The Baltimore business community, in particular, has a deep commitment to helping the Foundation find a cure, and it is an honor to promote the importance of philanthropy on behalf of this organization.”
A well-known businessman, Ed’s leadership extends throughout Greater Baltimore. He is dedicated to bettering the Greater Baltimore region through community involvement and corporate giving and has served on numerous Boards for organizations such as: Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, serving as past chairperson and current Treasurer and executive committee member; Downtown Partnership of Baltimore, serving as a member of the board of directors; the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, serving as past chairperson and current member of the executive committee and board of trustees; DFK International, serving as past chairperson and current member of the board of directors; and Betamore, serving as current member of the advisory board. He recently sat on Mayor Catherine Pugh’s transition team as a member of the Baltimore Development Corp. Agency Review Committee.
