The public accounting and business consulting firm, Ellin & Tucker, today announced that Kimberly Fusco, a manager in the firm’s accounting and audits department, was awarded the Philanthropic 5 (P5) award at United Way of Central Maryland’s third annual Emerging Leaders United (ELU) Young Professionals Conference.
Fusco is one of five central Maryland young professionals recognized for their extraordinary commitments of leadership, volunteerism, mentoring and philanthropy to the region’s nonprofit community. Fusco founded the Giving Back Committee at Ellin & Tucker in 2009, and since has raised over $19,000 and more than 1,500 items to support local nonprofits, with the committee logging more than 1,000 volunteer hours. She also serves as a member of the board of directors for the Maryland Disability Law Center and competes in endurance events to raise money for the Maryland nonprofit community.
“I am honored to receive United Way’s Emerging Leaders United Philanthropic 5 award, along with four other incredible young professionals,” Fusco said. “Ellin & Tucker’s long history of commitment to the Baltimore nonprofit community is the foundation for the Giving Back Committee’s success. Our achievements are rooted in the strong support of the firm’s leaders and enthusiastic commitment of all our team members.”
United Way’s ELU P5 recipients were nominated by members of the central Maryland business community, and then were selected based on the positive impact of their volunteer efforts. P5 recipients are being awarded $500 to invest in a local nonprofit of their choice.
“Young people in today’s workplace have incredible amounts of energy and passion. United Way is lucky to have such an engaged group of young professionals supporting its programs,” said MaryBeth Hyland, director of ELU at United Way of Central Maryland. “P5 winners recognized today have gone above and beyond for members of our community and shine as leaders among our talented group of young people.”
Through the leadership of its partners and employees, Ellin & Tucker supports the efforts of non-profit organizations by serving on boards and advisory committees, and volunteering at more than one hundred worthy organizations. In addition to raising funds for United Way of Central Maryland, Ellin & Tucker’s Giving Back Committee has also partnered with number of community organizations including Catholic Charities’ Our Daily Bread, Civic Works, First Fruits Farms, Home Instead, Kennedy Krieger Institute, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Maryland Food Bank, Maryland SPCA, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Baltimore and more.
