Baltimore, Md. – The public accounting and business consulting firm, Ellin & Tucker, announced today that Wm. Streett Baldwin, CPA, a director in Ellin & Tucker’s Audit, Accounting and Consulting Department, is the recipient of the 2014 Harriet Bank Award, presented by the Baltimore Museum of Industry (BMI). Baldwin, vice chair the BMI’s board of trustees, received the award at the BMI’s 11th Annual Industrialist of the Year Award Luncheon in June.
In honor of Mrs. Harriet Bank, a driving force of support behind the BMI, the Harriet Bank Award is given to a member of the Board of Trustees who exemplifies a similar dedication to the museum’s mission and a commitment to creating positive change in the community. It is tradition that the award is a surprise to each year’s recipient.
“I am proud to do my part to support the mission of such a vital organization and am honored and surprised to be recognized for my contribution,” said Baldwin.
Founded in 1977 by Mayor William Donald Schafer, the BMI was created to preserve Baltimore City’s rapidly disappearing industrial heritage. Since 2008, Baldwin has been actively involved with the BMI through his volunteer efforts, his participation on the board of trustees and his leadership on the board executive committee. Additionally, Baldwin served as co-chair of the Industrialist of the Year Awards in 2013 and 2014 – an award created in 2004 to recognize and celebrate Maryland’s visionary business leaders distinguished by their innovative approach to industry and dedication to the well being of their communities.
“The BMI is truly one of Baltimore’s great treasures,” Baldwin added. “It is critical to preserve the heritage of Baltimore and tell the story of what really built this city. The BMI conducts programs to teach the industrial history of the area to over 70,000 students per year.”
A graduate of Washington College, Baldwin has more than 25 years of professional experience providing audit, accounting, management advisory and corporate tax services for clients in numerous industries including manufacturing and not-for-profit. Baldwin serves as chairperson of Ellin & Tucker’s Investment Company Services Group. In addition to his role with the Baltimore Museum of Industry, Baldwin is deeply rooted in many of Baltimore’s not-for-profit organizations including the South Baltimore Learning Center, United Cerebral Palsy of Maryland, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Shriners Hospital, and Southeast Baltimore Teens.
