On October 24th, Ellin & Tucker’s Giving Back Committee volunteered at Good Shepherd Services. The facility has residential, medical, clinical and educational facilities as well as a central dining room, library, gym, auditorium, tennis courts and other resource areas. The GSS is accredited by The Joint Commission and is licensed by the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Good Shepherd School, located on the grounds of Good Shepherd Services, is approved by the Maryland State Board of Education as a non-public Type I residential and day Special Education Program, as well as a non-public Type I General Education Program for students in grades 8 through 12.
We had an amazing time. The program is so fantastic. The leaders, teachers and kids were so welcoming and kind. We broke in to teams and played a few games to get to know the group. Then we went into the gym and played a bunch of fun activities including improvisation games and trust programs. We loved it. While we were there we learned a lot about the other year round activities they do with the kids including field trips and PROM! We really look forward to spending more time there and helping them with their future goals.
