Baltimore, Md. – Ellin & Tucker, the Baltimore-based public accounting and business consulting firm, announced today that Kristin A. King, CPA, principal in the firm’s tax department, is currently serving as adjunct professor for Income Taxation of Estates and Trusts course at University of Baltimore Masters and LLM Graduate Tax Program.
“I am thrilled to be sharing my expertise as a tax professional and helping to educate accountants and attorneys on real world tax issues relating to estate and trusts,” King stated.
University of Baltimore, the public undergraduate, graduate and professional university located in the heart of Baltimore, provides education in business, law, public affairs and the applied arts and sciences. King will be sharing the curriculum with attorney Kevin Bress of Pessin Katz Law to instruct students on federal income taxation and the applicable law of decedents’ estates; simple and complex trusts; charitable trusts; and grantor trusts. The fall semester course will allow students to become familiar with the proper planning and maintenance of estates and trusts from the income tax perspective.
“In my time as a student at University of Baltimore, I found the courses taught by practitioners to be incredibly rewarding,” King added. “Their real life ‘war stories’ are what piqued my interest in pursuing my career in public accounting. I hope to ignite that same passion for the exciting, albeit challenging, field of taxation in the students I have the opportunity to teach. I’m excited to teach both lawyers and accountants in this unique classroom setting since this course is geared toward advisors in both professions.”
With more than 25 years of tax experience, King is responsible for tax planning, compliance and consulting for many of the firm’s corporate and individual clients in a variety of industries. Her expertise also includes hand-on experience with high net-worth families and family-owned businesses. King is a Summa Cum Laude graduate and received both her Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and Master of Science degree in taxation from the University of Baltimore. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA).
