With nearly 20 years of experience providing audit, accounting, tax and management advisory services, David is a Director in the Audit, Accounting, and Consulting Department of Ellin & Tucker and Chairperson of the firm’s Education Services Group. David is a highly motivated and service-minded professional well-versed in audit, tax, and advisory services for education-based not-for-profit organizations. As an engagement leader for several of the firm’s not-for-profits and independent school clients, his familiarity with budgeting and forecasting, cash flow analysis, strategic planning, capital campaigns, risk management, and human resource functions, is a rare set of skills few other accountants can match.
In addition to his not-for-profit expertise, David has experience in providing financial statement audit, review, and compilation services, as well as preparing corporate tax returns for clients in the construction, hospitality, investment, manufacturing, professional services, and wholesale distribution industries.
David recently shared his expertise and insights on building an effective not-for-profit board with the readers of Independent Schools Magazine (a publication of National Association of Independent Schools) and audience members at Maryland Nonprofit’s annual conference. In March 2017, David will be speaking to private education officials and board members at both the National Business Officers Association 2017 Annual Meeting and National Association of Independent Schools 2017 Annual Conference regarding strategies for school board success. Additionally, David’s thorough understanding of financial auditing inspired the Frederick Nonprofit Alliance Forum to seek him out to share his expertise and insights regarding not-for-profit audit and review processes.
David earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Mount Saint Mary’s University and is a certified public accountant (CPA).
David is an active member of the following organizations:
- Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA), accounting and audit standards committee, past Chair
- American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)
- National Business Officers Association (NBOA)
David is no stranger to the community, holding positions within a number of community organizations including:
- Dyslexia Tutoring Program, Board Member and Treasurer
- The Montessori School of Westminster, Board of Trustees Member and Treasurer
- Rotary Club of Carroll Creek, Member and past Treasurer
