As a Principal in the tax department of Ellin & Tucker, Susan leads the firm’s team of approximately 10 professionals who specialize in taxation for the not-for-profit industry. With more than 20 years’ experience providing complex tax compliance and planning services for various nonprofit organizations in the mid-Atlantic area, Susan can offer substantial expertise, insight and consultation on any tax-related topic for exempt organizations. Although she has worked with many types of not-for-profit organizations, charitable organizations are her specialty. Her specific industry expertise includes: private schools, cultural and religious organizations, as well as social welfare organizations.
In addition to her work with not-for-profit organizations, Susan also specializes in providing tax and consulting services to high net worth individuals, their families and related entities. She works both with clients directly as well as with their other advisors, including investment managers and financial planners, attorneys, estate planners and business contacts. Additionally, as part of her practice, she has numerous clients that specialize in various areas of real estate, including residential and commercial real estate owners, operators and developers.
Susan has spoken at the MACPA’s training conferences on the subject of nonprofit tax compliance and has represented exempt organizations on numerous occasions for Internal Revenue Service (IRS) examinations. Furthermore, she regularly presents short training seminars to client boards to assist in their understanding of the Form 990 and any related tax issues.
Susan received her bachelor of arts degree in accounting from James Madison University and is a certified public accountant (CPA).
