As a proud member of the Baltimore community, Ellin & Tucker is passionate about making our community a better place. Over the past few months, the firm’s Giving Back Committee (GBC) hosted two events partnering with organizations that provide essential aid for vulnerable members of our community: Health Care for the Homeless and Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland.

The first event occurred throughout March, when the GBC hosted a firm-wide donation drive in support of Health Care for the Homeless, collecting a variety of items such as hygiene products, protein shakes, socks, and more. Then a group of our volunteers assembled the donated items into 50 “Street Survival Kits” to make life on the streets just a little more manageable for neighbors in need.

Health Care for the Homeless is a local organization helping our Baltimore neighbors without homes move toward health and stability. It provides health-related services, education, and advocacy to reduce the incidence and burdens of homelessness. The organization provides assistance and resources to more than 10,000 of our neighbors every year.

The second event was the GBC’s June volunteer day, when our team went to work in the kitchen at Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland. Our summer interns came together with other E&T volunteers to prepare and pack meals for aging, homebound, and disabled adults across central Maryland. Together, the group packed 1,250 cold meals, 700 frozen meals, and 230 boxes that were distributed to the organization’s clients.

Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland was founded in 1960 and provides senior homebound people with nutritious meals, personal contact, and related services, enabling more independence for seniors in their own homes. The organization is one of the largest Meals on Wheels programs in the country, preparing and delivering over 1,300,000 meals a year.

Ellin & Tucker is proud to support Health Care for the Homeless and Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland and the incredible work that they do to help the vulnerable members of our community. We encourage everyone to take time to learn about both of these not-for-profit organizations and how you can support their missions.
