A New Era for Maryland Taxpayers: The Comptroller’s Office Goes Digital

Maryland flag blowing in wind.

If you’ve ever found yourself lost in a maze of government web pages trying to track down a tax form or get a simple question answered, you’ll appreciate what the Maryland Comptroller’s Office rolled out this year. Back in March 2025, the agency launched Marylandcomptroller.gov, and it’s a total game-changer for anyone who files taxes, runs a business, or just wants to get quick answers without picking up the phone.

The new site isn’t just a facelift — it’s a full-on digital transformation. Gone are the days of outdated links and clunky navigation. The revamped site boasts a cleaner layout, simpler menus, and better accessibility across phones, tablets, and desktops. The addition of MyCOMConnect, a brand-new customer service portal, puts taxpayers in the driver’s seat. You can now log in, request assistance, check the status of your refund, or even set up a payment plan — all in one place.

And here’s something impressive: during the redesign, the Comptroller’s Office deleted over 9,000 outdated or duplicate pages. This resulted in a faster, more streamlined experience that direct taxpayers to the right place. Plus, with support for multiple languages, the site is designed to serve all Marylanders.

This launch marks a major milestone in how the state delivers public service. It’s proof that government technology doesn’t have to be complicated — it can be clean, intuitive, and built around real people’s needs.
